HB 3835A has now passed through its first committee, and this dangerous bill that rolls back critical protections of Oregon children and teens is quickly advancing through the legislature! If you’ve contacted elected leaders already, thank you—but now we need you to tell the House Rules Committee to oppose HB 3835A and protect Oregon’s most vulnerable!
If HB 3835 becomes law, every child and teen in Oregon will be impacted. The Oregon Department of Human Services will police itself, and our most vulnerable will continue to be hurt—or worse. Foster youth will continue to be sent out-of-state, far from family, and often, to problematic providers. Schools could follow watered-down abuse reporting rules, and harmful restraints could be used more widely. Children who report abuse could be ignored or dismissed.
If HB 3835A passes, systems will protect themselves—not our children and teens.
Tell the House Rules Comittee to believe abused kids and to protect them. Vote “NO!” on HB 3835A!!
