Oregon’s House Committee on Early Childhood and Human Services is currently considering a bill that will fundamentally gut critical protections of children and teens. If HB 3835 passes, more children and youth will be hurt.
HB 3835 will limit how and when child abuse and neglect are investigated, remove nearly all independent oversight of the Oregon Department of Human Services (DHS), weaken legal protections that keep kids safe, and many more bad things. Illegal seclusion and restraint practices in school will also go uninvestigated—unless a child dies or is permanently disfigured. Finally, under HB 3835 foster youth will be stranded in homeless shelters.
If HB 3835 passes, more children and youth will be hurt. A vote for HB 3835 is a vote to harm our most vulnerable children.
Tell Legislators to protect Oregon kids and Vote “NO!” on HB 3835!
