Dear Supporter,

As 2022 comes to an end, we want to take a moment to thank you for your interest and support throughout the year. Because of the generous support of donors, we provided free advocacy services to thousands of Oregonians with disabilities in 2022.

Let me introduce you to one of our clients, Martha. Martha is a 32-year-old with an intellectual disability who loves music and movies, and spends her free time weaving bracelets. Martha lives independently in a rural community with support from family, friends and her paid staff. When Disability Rights Oregon learned that someone who helped manage Martha’s checkbook was taking money from Martha, we immediately investigated and put a stop to the financial exploitation. Because of our work, Martha got her money back. If not for our supporters and donors, we wouldn’t have the resources we need to help Martha and thousands of others we serve to live the rich, full life that every Oregonian deserves.

Helping Martha is only one example of our impact. Over the past two years, we’ve conducted 46 investigations into abuse or neglect, provided 1,363 people with information about their rights, and 356 Oregonians have been represented by our attorneys or advocates when their disability rights are being violated. Separately, our Plan for Work program has helped 1,346 people on Social Security explore employment. This advocacy work provides hope and opportunity to so many people with disabilities.

As we near the holiday and New Year season, we urge you to support Disability Rights Oregon. Any gift amount will help give people with disabilities equal access to employment, education, mental health care, and community services. Please, consider making a donation today on our website.

With gratitude and wishes for a happy holiday season,

Sincerely,

Jake Cornett
